Black Scorpio Records Limited is a multifaceted company owned and operated in Kingston,Jamaica by Jamaican music veteran, Maurice Johnson more popularly referred to as Jack Scorpio.

Jack Scorpio, envisioned a revolution in his life and the Jamaican music industry at a very young age, and was able to build his empire from the resource garnered from earnings off playing music at dances and parties back in the 1970's.

Maurice "Jack" Johnson, decided to get involved in a competitive sound system business with the likes of Kilimanjaro, Stone Love, Metro Media; strove well through sound system clashes and gained himself numerous awards along the way,becoming a master-mind in the sound system business. In 1980, Jack opened a multipurpose complex in the ghettos Drewsland and purposed in his heart to give something back to the community.

This complex housed a recording studios, a dubroom, a restaurant, a ice-cream parlour and a grocery shop. All facilities offered the community and opportunity for growth especially the youngsters who got an opportunity on Thursday nights to put their talent on show. This was done under the watchful eyes of father Jack, who through such mean discovered stars like General Trees, who recorded many hits such as " Gone a Negril", "Tarzan" and "Mini-bus". He is also among the first to produce Kiprich, Mega Banton and international entertainer, Sean Paul, with his first single voiced with Bunny Rugs "Now that we found love".

Black Scorpio is appraised worldwide as one of Jamaica's number one veteran music producers, having been the founder of many hit singers and djs in Jamaica, who were inspired by him to go and live their dreams as well as helped them in accomplishing them. Some of the people he worked with throughout his career,included the Prince of Reggae "Dennis Brown" who recorded with him the hit single "Friends for Life, which is still a classic to date.Beenie Man recorded most of his first songs at Black Scorpio Records- as a young star in training under "fada scorpio" beginning at the age of 10 when he would accompany Scorpio to stage shows such as Sunsplash and be put on stage to express his talent in front of thousands of music lovers.Shaggy, Bounty Killer,Shabba Ranks, Bunny Rugs, Gregory Issacs, Josy Wales, TOK, Elephant Man, Garnett Silk, Yellow Man, Ward 21,Luciano,Gentleman,Pinchers,Pliers,Tenor Saw,Lady G,Barrington Levy, Sanchez, Turbulance,Buju Banton, Papa San,are also among some of the many artistes who have worked closely under the Black Scorpio catalog.
